Our Day At Orchalaw Farms Picking Apples

This afternoon we took a drive to Orchalaw Farms to pick apples.  We've been here before but the farm looks very different.  The government came in and expropriated the land to put in a pipeline of all things.  It's criminal to take away a farmer's field for some stupid pipeline.
We like it here because they grow dwarf apple trees.  They are at a great height to pick the apples without the need for a ladder.  This year was a great growing season and there were lots of different varieties of apples.  We got McIntosh, Courtland and some new variety.
At this farm you park your car in the lot and a tractor ride takes you to the apples.  This was good as we had a heavy rain yesterday so that the car didn't get stuck in the mud.

Here a shot of the pumpkins still growing in the field.
All in all we had a great day.  Go out and enjoy your local farms.  Support our farmers and buy local produce right from the farms and roadside stands.  Farms are slowly disappearing.
