The CNE
As is the tradition since I was a little kid, we went to the CNE or as we all call it, The Ex. It's the rides, the foods, the games and the buildings. Each year though it seems to lose a little more of what I remember as a kid as being a magical time. It's the last fun at the end of the summer before school starts. With all of the changes and cutbacks each year is a little less magical.
Neal and I walked through the buildings and saw the arts and crafts and things for sale. On our way from one building to the next we happened upon a T-Rex going for a stroll.
And this tree in front of Guest Relations is no ordinary tree, it's alive. The photo doesn't capture how it moved and opened it's eyes. It was very cool.
No we weren't really at the beach here. We happened upon a Parks Canada exhibit and the fellow took a photo of us acting like kids. This is totally us. Too bad they didn't have one with our kayaks. That would have been very cool!
All in all we had a good time at the Ex, the food building had it's usual stuff. Fried foods, wraps, pizza, pasta and some really gross food with actual bugs in it. Ya no thank you. The sad part was that they had no freebies in the food building and no special offers like they had in the past. Where do you draw the line with cutback before the special event is no longer special? If you are in Toronto and want to have some fun, the CNE is open until Labour Day.
