Doors Open 2017 - Oh The Things We Saw And Did

Welcome to Doors Open Toronto 2017.  This year we visited York University and were able to see three venues all on the same day.
Although it's not open just yet, we got to visit the brand new York University station.  It's slated to open sometime in January 2018, but from the look of things it's just about finished.  It's more than a year late, but well worth the wait.
Here is the grand staircase and just through the windows you can just see the newly planted garden.
Here are the new Presto fare gates.

Here we are just going down to the train platform.  On the walls on either side of the stairs is a moving art instillation.  The pieces move with the airflow from the trains.

They actually had two trains in the tunnel.

The escalators aren't quite finished just yet.

Our next stop was clear across campus to the Aviva Tennis Centre.  It was really cool because we were able to get right down on centre court.

And yes we actually did get to play tennis on centre court.  Neither of us are very good tennis players.

On our way back, we stopped at the Bergeron Building.  They had the 3D printers to look at and some building tours as well.  Sorry no photos.

Anniversary #10

On May 20th Neal and I celebrated our 10th anniversary.  One of the restaurants we often go to called Cafe Sheli gave us this amazing desert.  It was a hot chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream.  It was amazing!

A few days later we went out to the Mandarin Restaurant to continue the celebration.  They brought us a cupcake with a candle in it and took our picture and put it in a magnetic frame that we will keep on the fridge.

All in all we had a great anniversary and here's to the next 10 years!
