Neal and I decided to take a walk in Kleinburg which is an old part of York Region. Some of these building have been around since the 1800's. This cool looking building use to be the most awesome bookstore.
Kleinburg was founded in 1848 by John Nicholas Kline (1825–1854), a
German-Canadian
settler. A direct German translation of Kleinburg is "small castle".
Residents argue that the community of Kleinburg could be named after its
founder or after its landscape (though the latter would necessitate the
spelling "Kleinberg", "Small Mountain" in English).
In its early days, Kleinburg was dependent on its many
flour and wheat mills, located off the Humber River.
Here we are at the old train station. Sadly no train visits here anymore. We did hear a train nearby though.
We wandered down the street to the McMichael Gallery. They have various places and buildings to look at.
Here is the statue garden. You can stroll through the different statues out here in the garden.
The wander inside and see the paintings by the Group of 7. They are all buried on the grounds. There are many hiking trails that you can walk through as well.
