High Park - The End Of Our Vacation

The last adventure of our vacation is to High Park.  It's a huge park with many different areas to explore.  The one thing it doesn't have is enough parking.  If you want to go and explore the park, do yourself a huge favour and take public transit.  We drove through the various parking areas and couldn't find a space anywhere.  We ended up having to park outside of the park on a side street.
I was very excited to see this play structure.  Not because I'm a big kid that wanted to play but because Mike Holmes from the TV show Holmes on Homes built it.  A few years ago some heartless people burned down the play structure and Mr. Holmes and his crew were kind enough to build it again, better than before.  It isn't just a play structure, it's a work of art.  There are many little touches that the crew added to it to make it special for the kids.

In the middle of the park there is even a zoo.  I had no idea.  They didn't have your typical zoo animals either.  They have alpacas, bison, and a few other animals that I had never heard of before.  It was a very interesting place for an up close encounter with the animals.

This was suppose to be a maple leaf all made out of flowers.  It was very pretty.
There is also a huge lake in the middle of the park that actually has fish in it.  We saw a few people fishing in the water but nobody caught anything when we were there.
This was so cool.  I saw this wood carving as we were walking.  I don't know who did it but though it was worth sharing.

Niagara-On-The-Lake

Today's adventure takes us to Niagara-On-The-Lake.  This is very close to Niagara Falls but far more peaceful.  Most people go to watch a play written by George Bernard Shaw.  The statue is of the man himself.

Here is the old front of the theatre.  They've made a much larger theatre behind this building.
All the way along the street are little shops that sell everything from clothing, jewellery, wine (you're in wine country with tons of small wineries), and souvenirs.  If you want ice cream you have to stop into this ice cream shop called Cows.  Not only do they have the best ice cream but they have the funniest T-shirts.  If you do go in read their T-shirts carefully.  Too funny!!!!  My personal favourite is a Dr. Moo shirt complete with Tardis.  But I also have the Moovivor shirt.

In the distance you can see Fort Henry.  Here is a link if you are interested to learn more about it:  http://www.forthenry.com/index.cfm/en/about-the-fort/

Here is Neal and I hanging out by the water.  It's so nice and peaceful and quiet.

I hope you enjoyed our trip to Niagara-On-The-Lake.  We also went to a brand new outlet mall on the way here, but I wasn't impressed so I didn't see the point in writing much about it.  It's newly opened and wasn't completely finished.
