The Science Centre

Good Morning and welcome to another edition of what did I do on the weekend.  On Sunday, we channeled our inner child and went to the Science Centre.  Why?  It was Telus Family and Friends Day and it was free.  For anyone who has been to the Science Centre lately, you'll know what a great value not paying admission was.  The adult entrance fee is now up to $22 a person and parking is $10.  That would make for one big expense if you take your family for the day.  So yesterday all we had to pay was the $10 for parking.  They had all kinds of fun events for people to try.  You could get your photo taken and you get a prize (stuffed animal, sun glasses or a Telus bag), they had mini golf, bean bag toss, you could meet two mounted police or climb on a fire truck.  Inside you could meet some of the athletes from the PanAM Games in the Great Hall.  Then there was the usual cool science type things to do.  My personal favourite was the Vandergraff.  You know the one where you touch the big ball and your hair stand on end.  We went outside in the back of the Science Centre and followed a path to a lookout and found this really cool wooded area with water.  All the times we've been to the Science Centre I never knew that was there.  Ok usually we go in the winter when there's nothing else to do and you wouldn't go outside voluntarily.

We had a really fun day, but I must say, the folks at the Science Centre should really think about fixing many of the broken exhibits and replacing some of the carpets because the place is looking a little worn.  Don't get me wrong we had a fun time, but the place needs some TLC.  If you are going to charge so much money to get in, everything should be in good working order and the place should look nice.  Thank you Telus for a fun afternoon.

A Day At The Apple Farm

Today Neal and I visited Orchelaw Farms in Brampton, Ontario.  What a great time we had.  The weather couldn't have been more perfect for apple picking.  This year was a bumper crop for all varieties of apples.  This farm was great as the trees were short and therefore so easy to pick from.
Oh Neal you'll have to wait until we get home to eat the pie.  We bought an apple caramel crumble pie.  YUM!!!
Us riding the tractor out to the field.

Apple picking and sampling out in the field.

Ha ha I loved this sign!!!
Neal cooking a hot dog over the open camp fire.  I had BBQ corn.  So amazing.
Just a list of some of the different varieties of apples available to pick.  Cortland, Mitsu, Jana Gold, MacIntosh, Ida Red, and the list goes on and on.

After this farm we went to Ferri Country Apple Store right up the road.  They too have apple picking and a country store with lots of jams, apple cider, and baked goods.  I just love being on the farm.

Family & Friends Day At Corus Entertainment

Today Neal and I and his parents went to family and friends day at Corus Entertainment (that's where Neal works).  I have to say, he has one of the coolest offices ever.  I mean how many places can you go down a slide just because it's there.  He can sit in a chair and watch a storm coming in off the lake.

They had burgers, hot dogs and vegi burgers, BBQ corn on the cob, ice cream and drinks for everyone.  The weather held up and the rain held off long enough for the event to take place.

Here we were goofing around taking silly photos all dressed up.  Honest in the middle picture he really wasn't trying to kill me.
We decorated some cupcakes......and later ate them.  YUM!!!  They were awesome!
I tried my artistic hand at painting but ran out of time.  Maybe I can find some of my paints here to finish the picture at home.

All in all we had a great time.  Neal gave us the best tour of the building ever.  We even got to see the surrounding area as well.  Until our next adventure.....  Keep exploring and have fun!
