3rd Anniversary

Can you believe it, we've just celebrated our 3rd anniversary?  Wow what an anniversary it was.  We took a trip on the Disney Wonder for 4 days and then 3 days in Disneyworld.  First off I will tell you all about our adventures aboard the magical Disney Wander.  When we finally arrived in Orlando we were taken by the Disney Magical Bus to the cruise ship terminal.  Wow it was a beautiful sight to behold when we finally pulled up along side the Wander.  We breezed through security and checked in not having to wait in any lineup at all.  It was really quick as almost everyone was already on board already.  As we crossed over the gangway onto the ship we saw her beauty right away.  Every surface was polished to a shine and we saw all kinds of Disney artwork on the walls.  We found our cabin and looked out of our port hole.  Our cabin was a nice size with a split washroom.  One room had a sink and a bath tub and the other had the toilet and a sink.  It was perfect for two people to get ready at the same time.

We went up to the buffet for some lunch.  The food was really good.  Later in the day we had to put on our life jackets for muster drill.  Oooohhh that was so much fun.....NOT!!!  You could sweat to death while you wait for the all clear.

Our first port of call was Nassau, Bahamas and it was nothing to write home about.  We walked around the town for a little bit and shopped for some souvineres but we didn't do anything special there.  The vendors are far too pushy for our taste.  So we went back to the ship and went swimming.  That evening our dinner was at Parret's Cay.  Our table mates were really nice....well, except for one girl from Montreal who we all could have done without (even her husband).  She had the most negative attitude.  Oh well, there's always one in the bunch.

The next day was the highlight of our trip.....we arrived at Castaway Cay.  It's Disney's own private island.  This place is beautiful and they have thought of everything.  There is a beach for the families and there is a separate beach for adults.  We took out a kayak and had the time of our lives.  Since we were the only people kayaking we were able to stay out as long as we wanted.  When we got tired we took a tram over to the adult beach.  We got a beach chair and an umbrella and we settled in for the day.  Neal rented us a floating mat and we had a blast splashing about.  Later on in the day someone lent us their inner tube and Neal tried to get into it.....well, he didn't exactly get into it correctly and all of the sudden he got launched up from the centre of the tube and then right back down bum first and went right through the tube landing in the water.  All around us people clapped.  It was sooo funny to see!!!

At lunch time there was a great BBQ put on by the cruise line.  They had hot dogs and hamburgers, fish and veggie burgers, salad, fruit and chips.  Wow what a great BBQ!!  Once again Disney thought of everything.  After lunch we explored a bit more of the island.  Neal found a huge waterslide at the kids beach and just had to try it out.  He had a great time!!!!  Late in the afternoon we got back on the ship and took a nap before dinner.  Dinner was at Tritans.  Not bad but not my favourite food.

Our last day at sea we tried to stay indoors a little more as we were very sun burned.  So in the morning we went to a cooking class where we learned how to make salmon in phyllo pastry.  Mmmmm it was great!!!  Then we went to a napkin folking demo and lastly a walk through the galley.  The chief even made us some chocolate chip cookies.  Mmmmm the hot cookies were amazing!!!!  That night was our last night on board and we went to the restaurant called Animator's Pallet.  When we started off, all of the animation on the walls were black and white as were the vests of the waiters.  But as dinner progressed everything started to get coloured.  As each movie still got colour the song from it's movie played.  It was the most beautiful thing to watch.  Our waiter's vest got it's colour just after we had dessert.  They brought us a cake for our anniversary and sang to us.  It really was a magical night!!!

The next day we left the ship and boarded our Magical Disney Bus to Disneyworld.  We stayed at the Pop Century Resort.  The hotel was amazing even if it was budget.  It had everything we needed.  Each area had a pool to swim in.  We stayed in the 70's area.

In 3 days we managed to see all of the parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Disney Studios).  On our last day there we had planned to go to Disney Studios.  We got off the bus only to find out that it was a Star Wars weekend.  There must have been over a million Star Wars fans.  We got back on the bus and came back later at night.  We even managed to see Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island.  We had the best time ever.
