From The Groom...

Hello everybody!

Thanks for taking the time to go through the website and visiting the various comments and features concerning the big wedding that will be taking place on May 20, 2007.

This is a very exciting time for both Debbie and I and we are so happy to be sharing this simcha with all of you - our family, friends, and guests.

For me personally, the planning of the wedding has been very exciting and I am looking forward to seeing all of this come to life in May.

Again, thanks for looking at the website and we'll keep you updated over the upcoming months in the lead-up to the big day in May.

Our First Meeting With The Rabbi

About a week after Neal and I got engaged, the wedding planning began and we had our first meeting with the Rabbi. We were both a bit nervous discussing the wedding and what would happen during the ceremony. The whole while during our meeting there was a terrible thunderstorm raging outside. To break the tension, I jokingly said, oh well, at least we're safe inside the synagogue. The Rabbi said, no, not necessarily, he told us that he had been hit by lightning twice now while at the cemetery. I slowly moved my chair further away from him just in case. Everyone laughed.

The Engagement Party

The engagement party brunch was held on Sunday, October 22 at the Pickle Barrel Banquet Hall, located at the Markville Shopping Centre. The newly renovated banquet hall was beautiful. There were tea light candles floating in water in circular vases with a sprig of flowers around the inside of the vase. The napkins were blue and the table cloths were white. We had just over 100 family and friends in attendance. Their excitement more than made up for the gloomy weather outside. It was pouring rain and very cold that day.

The food was outstanding, even though I was too busy making sure that everyone was having a good time to actually eat very much. We had various salads, veggies, lox, cream cheese, cheeses, bagels, an omelette station, french toast and blintzes. And then there was fruit, little cakes and of course our engagement cake. The cake came from Loblaws and it was white with blue, pink and white flowers and a big red heart in the middle. It said "Congratulations Debra & Neal on your Engagement". It tasted so great!!

Jason, my brother, made a short speech and a toast to Neal and I. Then Neal made a speech thanking everyone for coming and thanking the parents for making the fantastic party. Lastly, it was my turn to thank everyone. We really couldn't have made this party such a success if it weren't for our parents. They did a wonderful job and we thank them.
